Nursery, Reception, Y1, Y2, Y3 and Y4 are based at Delaware. Y5 and Y6 are based at Gunnislake Primary Academy.
We have finally reached the end of a long and eventful term and I am sure that you are looking forward to having your children at home with you for Christmas. Although holidays are a happy time we are sad at the Delaware base as we say a sad goodbye to Mrs Tamsin Garwood who has been with us for over 13 years. She is taking very early retirement and, now that her children are grown, she and her husband are off to have lots of adventures. I am sure that you will join me in wishing her the very best for the future.
It has been a busy few weeks with Christmas preparations in full swing. There have been theatre and train trips and many Christmas parties.
Thank you to Mole Valley Farmers of Tavistock who donated Christmas trees to us. Also, to Reverend Chris Painter who led a magical Christingle service for us at St. Annes Church on Monday 13th.
Both bases were cooked a delicious Christmas lunch this week by Mrs Wood, Miss Wood and Mrs Warren- thank you ladies!
It only remains for me to wish you all a very merry (Covid free!) Christmas. I hope that you are able to have the Christmas that you have planned and that you get to spend it with your nearest and dearest. It has been an absolute pleasure to have had a relatively 'normal' term with your lovely children. Look out for Facebook and website posts showing you what we have been getting up to in order to feel festive!
See you all in 2022!

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our website. We hope that you will enjoy the opportunity to discover more about our school, nursery, wonderful staff and amazing children!
At Delaware we strive, in partnership with parents and carers, to offer our pupils a high standard of education which will help each child to reach their full potential. Our aim is to nurture the children in our care, providing them with safe but exciting environments and opportunities where they can develop a life-long love of learning. Our learning environments are bright, colourful and interactive and the pupils at Delaware are proud to share their learning and achievements. We accept children from aged 2 upwards. We have a beautiful nursery open from 7.15am – 6.00pm with funded/non funded sessions available.
Our school motto is summed up in three simple words which came about following discussions with the children about their learning. These are: Believe. Achieve. Enjoy. They sum up perfectly the positive mindset which we pride ourselves on- 'I can't do it' is NOT accepted at Delaware- it is corrected to 'I can't do it - YET!'
Learning at Delaware is FUN! We plan for rich and memorable learning opportunities for our pupils and work in close partnership with other schools in our neighbourhood and our Bridge family of schools. We became a part of the Bridge Schools Trust in December 2015 and are embracing the additional learning opportunities that this has provided.
We have developed ways of working so that there is a consistent approach across all classes. Please take a moment to read our GOOD Ofsted report from September 2018. My favourite quote is “Pupils love to learn and are truly valued at Delaware Primary Academy”.
We pride ourselves on being a happy, inclusive school- please visit to see what we have to offer you and your children. You are sure to receive a warm welcome!
